Counselor's Corner
Mrs. Porras, Counselor

Welcome Poplar Road Panther families! My name is Alicia Porras. Since 2004, I’ve worked as a public school educator as an elementary classroom teacher and currently as an elementary school counselor. I think my experience as both a teacher, counselor and parent along with advanced training gives me a different approach on how to be a better advocate for you and your child. Encouraging and motivating students to reach their maximum potential in academic, social-emotional and career readiness is truly my passion. I received by Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA in 2004, my Master of Science in School Counseling from University of West Georgia in 2008, and most recently completed my Education Specialist in School Counseling from Valdosta State University in 2019. I am a proud citizen of Coweta County and currently reside in the downtown Newnan area with my husband, Noah and our two boys, Grayson and Connor. I love Poplar Road Elementary because of its community, warmheartedness and dedication for children’s academic, emotional and social growth. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate in contacting me. As the school counselor at Poplar Road, I provide classroom lessons, small groups, and individual social-emotional support to the students at Poplar Road Elementary. I would LOVE for you to share this page with your children so that they can access me and these social-emotional resources. Please reach out to me at alicia.porras@cowetaschools.net if you have any questions or specific needs.
